Possibly the most ironically banned book on this list is Fahrenheit 451. This book, written in 1953, tells the story of a dystopian future where books of any kind are outlawed and "firemen" are tasked with burning them. 

Written as a commentary on the book burning practices of Nazi Germany and ideological repression in Soviet USSR, this book has cemented itself as a classic tale of why censorship is dangerous, while also finding itself regularly on the chopping block it is commenting on.
