Education: The Key to the Future

Time after time, we hear the West Virginia is undereducated. This affects our ability to attract business to our state, and affects people's ability to achieve well-paid jobs.

Real Education Reform

  • Enforce hard caps in all classrooms (no current caps in secondary education)
  • Expansion of initiatives that encourage critical thinking and hands-on learning, including but not limited to STEAM, Project-Based Learning, and more Arts education
  • Limit testing to the lowest federal requirement
  • State must commit to offering the same summative assessment for an extended period of time (5-8 years)
  • Expand free school breakfast and lunch; Use food grown/harvested in WV as much as possible
  • Expand afterschool programs
  • Invest in education professionals and value their expertise and knowledge
  • Expansion and implementation of mental health into the curriculum and school day
