Projects

Current Research Projects

Our group is currently working on the following research projects:

  1. Sources, chemistry and loss of VOCs in indoor environments.

  2. Emissions and chemistry of VOCs in urban atmospheres.

  3. Formation of secondary organic aerosol from biogenic VOCs.

  4. Development of instrumentation for VOC measurements.

  5. Emissions of NOx and CH4 from oil and gas production.

Other Expertise

Before becoming a faculty member with CIRES and the Department of Chemistry, Joost de Gouw was a Senior Research Scientist with CIRES and the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory. He led a group that focused on the air quality and climate effects of VOCs in the atmosphere. As a result, he has expertise in these additional areas:

  1. Oil and Gas

  2. Biomass Burning

  3. Chinese Air Quality

  4. Biogenic VOCs

  5. Biofuel Impacts

  6. Arctic

  7. Oceans
