I am an adjunct librarian and I work at four community colleges. In the adjunct world that is called a “freeway flyer” because we are traveling on the freeway to and from various campuses. I live in Silverlake which is considered east hollywood in the city of Los Angeles. I live with my boyfriend, my cat Muriel, and my dog Gus who was a stray that I rescued from the streets. In my spare time I like to see plays and movies. I enjoy visiting the few used bookstores that are still operating in the Los Angeles area and I really love going to farmers markets.
I believe that all information is not created equal. I believe that the internet has a multitude of information for people to use but not all of them are trustworthy. I believe it is my mission to enlighten community college student's and show them how to be able to discern between what is a credible source and what is not. My goal is to instill in them the importance of using high quality and credible sources to make their papers, speeches, and powerpoints have more authority and back up the claims that they are making. I want to show them the techniques on how to decipher between credible sources and not credible sources on the internet.. They can still use the internet for sources but they have to do some detective work in order to make sure they are using a credible source and they are not using a biased opinionated source from an uncredentialed author.
