The value of strong literacy skills across all subjects has become critical to ensure that students realize their full potential. When teachers are aligned across the curriculum and provide students access to consistent literacy strategies in all classes, students get the opportunity to read and interpret in a variety of contexts, as well as to hone their skills in writing with clarity and persuasiveness across subjects. Schools working in Literacy Across the Content Areas quads will:

Explore high-leverage reading and writing strategies that can be used across all subjects.
Plan multidisciplinary lessons that draw connections between content areas and allow students to construct meaningful relationships between disciplines.
Investigate curricula for biases and use cross-content literacy moves as one way to counter and interrogate those biases.

Read Alouds + Informational Interviews

LitLife is going live on Facebook every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Read Alouds, interviews with school leaders, and live lessons.

LitLife provides 5 day lesson plans every week to teach literacy directly to students at home, along with family engagement activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Week 3:

In grades K-2, we are learning how an author expresses their opinion in a text and using this information to craft our own opinion pieces. These lessons are great for allowing children to share the topics that are important to them!

In grades 3-5, we are exploring persuasive writing through a close look at editorials. Use these lessons to help children share their ideas about current events and topics!
