Sunrise takes the safety of young people in our movement seriously! If you are under 18, we want you to come to DC and participate in this action, however you will need to do some advance planning and extra organizing in order to come to DC. This page is designed to help you think through how you could come; if you have more questions, don't hesitate to reach out!
As someone under 18, you will need the express consent of a parent or guardian that you can attend this mobilization. You'll also need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian or chaperone during your travel to the action, accomodation in DC, and at the action itself.
Here are some ways you might approach coming to DC:
One young person's parent either doesn't work full time or is able to take a day off work for Monday June 28. That parent is the chaperone for a group of young people, and each young person's guardian has consented to this arrangement.
One young person's older sibling (21+) or other guardian is able to accompany a group of young people as their chaperone. Each young person's parent or guardian consents to this arrangement.
Once you have locked in a chaperone, everything becomes much easier! With this person, you and your friends can organize travel and accomodation for the action.
