Character Creation
Character Creation
Your first character will be part of a witchcraft / pagan interest group, maybe they're reluctant about it - maybe its for a class they're taking! it's your choice. You don't have to know ANYTHING about it. We're no experts- we're just having fun.
There will be opportunities to create more characters, and we encourage creating npcs to help flesh out the town.
Our application process is through google sheets, and you can keep track of the information you'll need with our informative document.
Go here for a breakdown on stats
Please be aware when creating your character, that we do not want to see detailed descriptions of abuse or abusive behavior- please be light on any triggering traumatic details if they exist. While we do have some characters already that have elements of this in their backstory, abuse should not be included for shock or to make your character "interesting". Traumatic histories can exist, just be mindful of how you tell them and how much focus they have.
If you're unsure the character you're writing would be allowed- send us a message!
Abilities
The ability your character will possess is subtle, not likely something they've recognized as extraordinary. They could even attribute it to things like luck, intuition, empathy, or keen senses. These come in handy especially during group roleplays, where the dms will let you know if your character has learned something through their sense, but its up to your character to decide whether its important to share or not... "maybe its just anxiety." or "i don’t trust them." ;)
You can create your own, we may help adjust it to fit the group, but we'll discuss it with you first, again, the extent of these powers will be limited.
Examples (most can be found on the super power wiki):
premonitions
psychometry
clairvoyance
dowsing
empathy
specific animal empathy
spiritual awareness
mind reading (limited)
dream sharing
or come up with your own!
Important things to remember about the setting are:
Dawngrove is set in the 80s, any references to pop culture would be understood.
The location is somewhere in North America, your characters may reference real places in the world.
Cellphone reception can be spotty in the woods and on the mountain.
The concept of magic being real isn't widely believed, most people would think its a ridiculous conspiracy theory if they payed mind to it at all. A lot like our world, there would be plenty of tales but no evidence.
Finally, some group features we are excited about.
NPC relationships
build up your reputation with NPCs, and gain access to alternative pathways, items, and/or secrets.
Quests
go on guided quests with a group of two or more, that can increase reputations with NPCs and offer unique rewards.
World impact, dynamic story, consequences
depending on what your character does, have actual impact on the plot, world, and/or story. this is encouraged! even private roleplays, if submitted for points and the world-impact is outlined in the submission, could be accepted as world canon. Burn down a shed! we don't care... but someone might.
New areas as our plot develops
There will be more to explore as we continue the story! stay tuned and stick with us and we'll take suggestions seriously, we hope to build things with you!
Character development in a found family situation
We'll be happy to help your character fit into the world, and our intention is to give every character a chance to shine. We ADORE a good found family story in this house.
Events
we'll of course be taking breaks from plot to do a lot of fun events. Don't worry- there WILL be a black tie event.
Familiars!!
AND MORE TO COME!!!!
