One Day of Trash 2019
The video was filmed on March 18, 2019.
RSB Board members and several volunteers collected all outdoor trash, commingle, and organics receptacles on the high school campus and dumped each container onto similarly labeled tarps. Contamination in each category was removed and placed on the appropriate tarp. The process of resorting clearly shows the impact of contamination in school recycling containers. When done correctly, one day of outdoor trash fit into one small trash bag!
Removing recycling from campus is free while trash removal is not. Let's stop spending money on trash!

The purpose of the "One Day of Trash" project was to create a visual depiction of the impact of contamination in school recycling containers.
RISE Student Board members videotaped themselves dumping the contents of all the outdoor waste containers at Davis Senior High School (DHS) onto tarps and then resorted by placing contamination onto the proper tarps.
The process was also conducted at Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. High school. Pictures of the results can be found in Event and Projects, Junior High Activities, 2016.
