Lesson 6

Two problems for you.

The solution to these two positions may well be as big a surprise to you as they were to me. The hit is obvious but the double slot! Really!

In position A we are 19 pips behind, we have two checkers to move around and black has lots of threats if we split the back checkers any time soon. If the double slot isn't hit we can build up our innerboard and have some counter threats of our own. If we are hit we recycle our checkers and maybe get some hits on the other side of the board.

In position B we are in a fairly desperate situation. We have two checkers trapped in blacks strong home board and our timing has gone. Here we want to be hit so that our innerboard doesn't collapse. Then we will be in better shape if we do get a shot later on.
