What is the application process for a Darzi Fellow?

There are three stages to the recruitment of a Darzi Fellow:

Who can apply for the Fellowship?

The Darzi Fellowship is open to anyone in professions within the NHS at grades ST4-6, CT3, SAS, GPST3/4, newly qualified GPs, Band 7/8a or equivalent. The position is offered after academic review of the candidate by LSBU (to ensure the Fellow can work at Masters Level). Note: Doctors and dentists in training can apply for an out of programme experience (OOPE) in order to complete the year.

When are Fellows expected to join their host organisation?

The host organisation agrees the start date of joining but Fellows needs to be in their post for the duration of the Fellowship (September to August).

How much is my salary whilst I undertake the Darzi Fellowship?

The host organisation and its HR Department are responsible for setting the salary for the Darzi Fellowship post. Please consult with them prior to applying for the Fellowship.

When can I start working on my Change Project (or 'Fellowship Challenge') with the Host Organisation?

The Fellowship runs from September to August and the applicant can begin the Change Project before this date as long as the change project is running for the duration of the Fellowship programme.

Is the Fellowship full-time or part-time?

The Darzi Fellowships are full-time positions, the only exception to this being if the Fellow needs to undertake clinical work for their training needs. In this situation, the Fellow may commit to no more than three clinical sessions (1.5 days) per week at the Fellow’s discretion.

Do I have to attend all programme dates?

Yes, all programme dates are compulsory and full attendance is expected. The programme dates can be viewed here.
