Project Description 

The content of this project contains examples of information security as reported by a media source and an evaluation of the sources.  In alliance with this information, I was able to improve my knowledge of cybersecurity by earning a certificate from completing cyber training,  

Lessons Learned 

This module assignment helped me to understand the nature of cybersecurity attacks and the affects that they can have on the world around us. I also learned about the many tyes of cybersecurity attacks that can take place. 

Cybersecurity in the News Articles 

Microsoft executive emails hacked

The article shares the occurrence of the hacking of Microsoft's executive emails by a Russian intelligence group. Hacking is the process of an authorized user carrying out tactics to gain access to information. This is not the first time the Russian intelligence group has been able to breach Microsoft's data as a cyber attack was detected by the same group in 2020. While this incident didn't have a material effect on the company's operation, it's important that Microsoft issues more security on their email domains and passwords and analyzes their internal controls.

Scammers took her life savings

The article highlights an internet fraud incident that took place when a woman became a victim of a scam where scammers posed as CIA agents harassed her into sending over $150,000. Internet fraud involves the use of online services to take advantage of a victim for information or money. In this case, the victim was already previously scammed and shared that information which caused her to be vulnerable to other scammers. When dealing with internet scams the number one thing to do is never send money in the first place or any more if it has already occurred.
