Hello,
My name is Danielle Siwula. I specialize in Elementary Education and Special Education and I am licensed in both of these areas by the state of Illinois.
I have a passion to come alongside students to meet them where they flourish. Every student has unique needs, learning styles, and values for the environment around them. I believe that every student should have equal opportunity to learn in the least restrictive environment specifically for them, while having supportive resources necessary that I am able to provide.
Due to working in various kid's camps and leading a Sunday School group, I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be an educator of some sort. In Junior High, I had multiple friends with special needs that our small private school couldn't cater to or support. Seeing this, gave me a desire to assist in creating change. My goal is to work with those who need extra support in a place that is in greatest need for this position. I want students and their parents to be comfortable with their chosen school while receiving the best education possible.
While in college, I had multiple opportunities to work with students with and without special needs. During online learning (2020), I tutored three exceptional students in their zoom calls, homework, and extra supports. I also worked at Orland School District in which I tutored, helped with homework, planned crafts, played games/activities/sports, and developed bond with both my STARS students and their families.
I observed classrooms, completed pre-student teaching alongside student teaching. These experiences have happened at many different schools/districts during my four-year program at Trinity Christian College. Pre-student teaching was fulfilled at District 128 and involved me teaching various lesson plans in each subject. While in student teaching, I was able to work in two very different programs - a 3rd grade inclusive classroom in District 143, and a Special Education transition program at District 220/AERO Program. I enjoyed every minute District 128 and AERO with the experiences, learning environment and growth it provided me.
Finally, after student teaching, I worked in District 109. This school has my heart and contributes largely to my professionalism, pedagogy, and communication skills. In this District, my first year I worked as a resource special education interventionist for 1st grade and 6th grade. My second year I served in the same role, but switched to the grade levels of Kindergarten and 1st grade as the younger grades fit my personality and skill set better.
