Daniel Bethke

Welcome!

My name is Daniel Bethke, and I am at senior at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, SD. Over the past few years, my work on the Statesman has become one my life's primary pursuits and interests. I look forward to continuing my engagement in journalism in college and beyond.

About Me

Beyond my work in student journalism, I enjoy active involvement in myriad extracurricular activities. I serve as Young Progressives Club President, South Dakota High School Democrats Chair and LHS Quiz Bowl Team Captain. I also participate in Debate and have been recognized as a National Merit Finalist. Other major hobbies are playing piano and guitar. Among these many engagements, journalism has been the most rewarding.

My Journalistic Journey

After taking Journalism freshman year, I joined the Statesman as a sophomore, where I quickly developed an affinity for journalism and the opportunities it afforded me. I progressed from Staff Writer to Perspectives (Op-Ed) Editor, in which capacity I was able to deeply explore others' viewpoints while expressing my own. Now, as a senior, I serve as Editor-in-Chief for a staff of over 50.
