The Statesman does not extensively engage in broadcast journalism; however, to the extent possible, I have participated in video and podcast creation across my years of involvement with the newspaper. In 2020 and 2021, for instance, I created and hosted our longest-running podcast ever, in which we featured interesting students from around the school who hadn't yet been featured in the Statesman. We talked about common interests, current relevant topics and more, and in the process we gained record views for our publication. Episodes of the podcast can be found at https://anchor.fm/lhsstatesman.
The Statesman is also in charge of "Meet the Candidates" videos for the annual LHS Student Council elections. These videos feature candidates from each grade explaining why they'd make a good Student Council Representative while answering questions about themselves. Statesman members conduct interviews with each candidate. Though I've been involved in with the videos each year I've been on staff, this year in particular (for the February 2022 elections), I helped organize the setup and interviewed all the freshman and sophomore candidates.
