This collection gathers writings, symbols, and paintings that were born not in galleries, but in forgotten corners and worn-down walls. Street art in these cities is neither decorative nor entertaining—it is a language of protest, collective memory, and often the last means of expressing emotions.
By choosing the title Where Walls Preach Without Gods, I aim to present the walls as pulpits no longer bound to power, religion, or institution. Here, it is the people who preach—with color, with rage, with hope.
Over the past fifteen years, my repeated journeys between Iran and Afghanistan have been not just geographical travels, but a deep exploration into the hidden and visible layers of urban culture in these two neighboring nations.
During these wanderings, the streets and walls of the cities in these two often-controversial countries have always served as endless canvases for untold stories and silent cries. The handwritten notes, slogans, and graffiti designs that were directly inscribed on these surfaces constantly drew my attention; each one is a piece of the complex puzzle of everyday life, reflecting aspirations, protests, and collective identity.

These signs, beyond mere aesthetics, are living records of the pulse of society and evidence of the continuous vitality of public spaces, understood more deeply with each journey. This collection is the result of years of observation and committed gathering during these travels, still evolving and being enriched to offer a comprehensive narrative of this street visual language.
