Reflection
I have had no previous experience with annotated bibliographies. This was my very first time even learning about it. This might reflect in my writing because I believe I may have written some aspects of a summary, analysis, and an evaluation in each paragraph even though I did have separate paragraphs for them. I also tried to follow the same writing style for each of my sources since my first source in Journal 2 had few errors with it. I tried to write a little ecstatic so as to not sound repetitive but I did write in the same format throughout my annotated bibliography. I used MLA citation format for my MWA1 and I used Owl at Purdue as my guide. The steps were easy to follow, but it was hard to gather as much information as I could for the citation. Some websites didn’t have a specific author or publishing date. Some had a recommended citation which made it easy to gather information. I learned quite a bit from summarizing, analyzing, and evaluating my sources. When I summarized my sources, it helped me to better understand what the article was saying because I was writing it in my own words. When I analyzed each of my sources, it helped me decide what are some good writing and presenting strategies to include in my presentation. For example, I learned that I want to avoid writing in a monotonous tone and I also want to utilize a table to display information. From evaluating my sources, I was able to process what information I would be using in my presentation and what questions I would be asking for my interview. It gave me an understanding of what my overall goal is for this project, which is inspiring my peers to help in the struggle for animal rights and welfare. For my first source, I plan on incorporating the information about euthanization rates and why the animals are euthanized. I also plan on discussing the proposed solution of relocating animals to shelters where they are more likely to get adopted. From my second source, I plan on discussing the horrors of animal farming and the benefits of reverting back to traditional animal agriculture. My third source will help me discuss the effects of animal testing and I can discuss the alternatives that will reduce/stop the deaths of lab animals. My fourth and fifth sources both tie back to my first one. My fourth source will help me prepare for my interview as I plan to discuss how we can provide a better environment for shelter animals. This source will also help paint a picture to the class on how these shelter animals live. The purpose of my fifth source is to reach out to the class and let them know that they can help fight the shelter crisis here in the U.S.. There is a whole list of activities included in my fifth source that anyone and everyone can participate in to help shelters. This is just the base for my presentation for now and I plan on finding more resources to improve my argument.
