Climbers are plants that twine or climb over other plants or supports.
Epiphytes are plants that grow on other plants without their roots touching the ground.
Ferns include the large tree ferns found in gullies and rock ferns.
Grasses, rushes and sedges are plants with long, narrow leaves and underground stems. Flowers are usually borne on long stalks.
Herbs and groundcovers are low-growing, non-woody plants that are usually less than 1 metre in height.
Lilies and irises include fleshy perennials with tuberous roots, the mat rushes and grass trees.
Orchids is a group of herbaceous plants with a particular floral structure which set them apart from other monocotyledons.
Shrubs include both small and large woody plants which are usually less than 5 metres in height. Shrubs typically have multiple stems arising at or close to the ground.
Trees include all the eucalypts as well as any adult plants that are 5 metres or taller when fully grown. Trees typically have a single trunk with branches some distance from the ground.
