Data Visualization

You could easily define a school as simply a place where data is collected. From who gets on the bus at 6:45 am to who missed soccer practice at 3:45pm and at every point in between, we gather data constantly in schools! Formative data, summative data, demographic data, standardized testing data, analytics from learning management systems, apps and websites. Data, data, data!

I would argue that with so much data coming in, it is really overwhelming for schools to actually try and make sense of it all. There is rarely a person on campus who has specific training in data science or visualization. In 2019, to help build my own capacity to contribute to my school, I completed the Udacity Data Visualization nanodegree program. This intensive certification taught me all about the science and art of communicating data and helped me learn such programs at Tableau, Flourish and Google Data Studio.

The work contained in this section of my website is a sampling of what was created during the course. In the coming months, this will be updated with the visualizations I created for my school to help make sense of our data to make meaningful changes and decisions for our students.
