In the summer of 2019, I had a special opportunity come my way. I was accepted into a film competition for OnePlus+ cell phones! I had pitched an idea of a short-film about my beloved Peru; a story that tried to explain how pollution, corruption and the human experience were interwoven in this dynamic part of the world.
To my surprise, the film kept making it farther and farther along in the competition. Past the initial pitch, past the storyboard, and finally, into the top 10!
Ultimately, the film did not win the competition, but I could not have been more pleased with the results. More importantly, it really taught me something about myself. At age 35, I could make a real film. As time goes on, we tend to harden our self-perceptions about what we do and who we are. But the truth is, we can always challenge ourselves and grow as individuals. We are never finished learning or discovering who we are.
