I was born in a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada, but grew up all around the globe. My father worked in mining, which meant we frequently moved to various locations, including Peru, Indonesia, Chile, Louisiana, and Brazil, throughout my childhood and teenage years. I attended many of the flagship international schools where I now work, embodying the quintessential third-culture kid experience.
After graduating from the University of Victoria's education program in 2011, I knew immediately that I wanted to become an international educator and teach in the same wonderful schools I was fortunate enough to attend as a child. My career has since taken me to Poland, Ecuador, Peru—where I met my wonderful wife Blanca—and finally to South Korea, where I am currently based. We have two amazing kids who are about to start their own international school journey. Funny how the apple never falls far from the tree!
I consider myself very fortunate to do what I love for a living. As an educational leader and technologist, I view my role primarily as that of a community member and community creator. I constantly ask myself how our work in schools can make students feel more connected, empowered, valued, humbled, and needed in this world. Similarly, I strive to upskill teachers with modern tools and methods to make teaching more efficient, simple, and impactful. Simply put, I want to make schools better places to be with better learning.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, surfing, reading, indulging in Peruvian cuisine, and exploring the world of bitcoin.
