Presence of Starch in Milk

To determine the presence of starch in milk, you can perform a simple iodine test. Here’s how:

Materials Required:

• Milk sample
  
  

• Iodine solution (Lugol’s iodine or potassium iodide solution)
  
  

• Test tube
  
  

• Dropper
  
  

Procedure:

1. Take about 5 mL of milk in a test tube.
   
   

2. Add 2–3 drops of iodine solution to the milk.
   
   

3. Observe the color change.
   
   

Observation & Interpretation:

• If starch is present, the milk will turn blue-black.
  
  

• If no starch is present, the color will remain unchanged or appear slightly yellowish due to the iodine.
