HE4U2: Integrating Cultural Diversity in Higher Education

HE4U2 Introduction

HE4U2: Integrating Cultural Diversity in Higher Education (2016-2018) is an Erasmus + project

which develops innovative approaches to researching and developing inclusive pedagogy and

policies which support cultural inclusion for students from ethnic minority backgrounds in Higher

Education. HE4u2 is grounded in a social justice perspective and its principal focus is to promote

inclusion within Higher Education with an emphasis on the experiences of migrant students.

One of the resources developed through this project is a set of guidelines for creating

intercultural learning environments offering both practical and philosophical supports. The

guidelines aim to

1. Support academics and non-academics in creating integrated environments where migrant

students not only feel welcome but are interpreted as a valuable asset

2. Create integrated environments where students of ethnic and/or cultural minority

backgrounds are not exposed to racism and/or discrimination.

3. Actively promote inclusive teaching techniques and research practices.

4. Address the curriculum needs of all those attending Higher Education.

5. Encourage universities to introduce policy changes that promotes intercultural learning.
