Under Proclamation no. 409 dated June 6, 1968, the Bureau of Plant Industry was able to operate the Tanay vegetable Farm on an area of more or less 204, 692 sq. m. The Bureau has been occupying this area since 1968. It has been found to be suitable for experimental purposes on semi-temperate fruit trees and vegetables.
The Rizal Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (RARES) is located at Brgy. Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal with a distance of 48.5km (2 hours travel) to Manila via Marikina-Infanta Highway and 14km (40 minutes travel) to Tanay town proper. It has a total land area of 20.46 ha. with an elevation of 365 meters ASL. It is part of the SierraMadre Mountain range, there are different tourist attractions, recreational centers, and restaurants situated within the area.
