Library Mission Statement
The Mission of the school Library is to be a valuable resource for teachers and students. The goal of this page is to create a resource where patrons can not only find resources to meet their needs but to also understand policies and procedures within our district. Meeting state standards is also a top priority and the current standards can be found here.
Welcome to the library!
My name is Mrs. Colahan. I have been working with students in some capacity since 2000. I have my M.Ed and MLIS. My goal is to support students and teachers in curriculum, the love of reading, and with media literacy. You may contact me at lcolahan@cwls.us with any questions.
My name is Mrs. Clark. I have been working with students at Canal Winchester since 2017. I enjoy helping students navigate not only the library but in gaining life skills through strong relationships. You may contact me at gclark@cwls.us with any questions.
Who can come to the library?
Students will need an e-pass from a study hall to sign in to the LLC
Students can be given an e-pass from a class when they need support for their learning, such as needing a book, research support, etc. Leaving an academic content class to come the LLC should only be to further or support that content work.
The LLC is a place of learning and collaboration, so the conversation and socializing will need to be productive to the learning environment. For this reason, students who come to the LLC will be required to be working independently or collaboratively on one of the following activities...
Reading or finding your next book
Writing
Working (student volunteers)- apply here
Creating
(including, but not limited to; creating book talks, video announcements, song writing, makerspace/STEAM challenges, cricut, looms, quilling, sewing, lego, rubix cubes, puzzles)

Rationale
The most important aspect of a library is to get the materials into the hands of patrons. Ensuring that materials are cataloged and shelved correctly is one of the most effective ways to be able to locate the appropriate material and serve the patron's needs. Therefore, the library being arranged in a user-friendly format based on patron interests and needs, with consistent cataloging and labeling requirements is essential to our success in serving patrons effectively. Please be sure to follow this manual when dealing with any and all materials intended for patron use.
