Our Scholarships

On  June 5, 2008, we lost one of our friends and book club members to a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 42 years old. A loving mother and wife, Patti was an original member of our group, who helped us find our rhythm and always had a unique perspective on the books we read. Each June we honor her memory with a scholarship in her name to a Berlin High School graduating senior.

On  Sept 4, 2015, we lost another one of our friends and book club members to a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 44 years old. A longtime friend to many in the group, Ceil joined our book club because she was reading the books we were reading anyway! Ceil would ask what Cup of Tea was reading and pick the book up so she joined our tight-knit group and became a regular. Through Ceil’s illness, remission and cancer recurrence, our group saw her incredible strength as she, like Patti, made every effort to attend our meetings and read what we were reading.
