Our Steering Committee

The steering committee serves as the executive board of CVR. The committee meets regularly to discuss the ongoing direction of the organization, represents the other committees at board meetings, develops best practices and protocol for social media, community partnerships, coalition building, and security, and maintains the health of the organization through discussion surrounding the mission and core.

Gabrielle Trinkle, President

Gabrielle currently works as volunteer coordinator, counselor, and advocate for the Sexual Assault and Rape Crisis Center at YWCA of Cumberland County. Gabrielle is a recent BSW graduate from Shippensburg University and will be perusing her Master's degree beginning in the Spring of 2018. She is a mother of two daughters and five pets. Her hobbies include gardening, mushroom foraging, cooking and painting. As president, Gabrielle facilitates and arranges meetings, acts as the point person for CVR, and informs the steering committee of major issues and concerns as they arise.

Lonna M. Malmsheimer, Treasurer

Lonna M Malmsheimer is Professor Emerita and Research Professor of American Studies at Dickinson College and has been a social justice educator and activist all her adult life. She grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania: Tarentum. She taught at Dickinson for 36 years and worked to diversify the College throughout those years. She was director of the Community Studies Center there for the last 5 years of her full-time work. She has done scholarly work on literature and culture, the Carlisle Indian School, domestic violence, photographs as historical documents, oral history of the Three Mile Island accident. She is currently on the CVR Steering Committee and a trainer for the History Project of the LGBT Center of Central Pennsylvania, a joint effort with Dickinson College Archives to collect and preserve the history of gays in our extended area. As treasurer, Lonna drafts the budget, pays bills, maintains bank accounts, and proivdes a monthly financial report to the steering committee.

Ben Geesaman

Bennett Geesaman is a Shippensburg native high school student. He is currently the president of the Social Activism Club at his high school. As a member of the steering committee, Ben aims to increase the practice of peaceful activism in the local community, and increase political participation; especially among the youth population. Bennett is planning on majoring in political science at Shippensburg University next fall. In his spare time, he can be found at a local theater catching a movie, or at a cafe grabbing a cup of coffee. Aside from serving on the Steering Committee, Bennett serves as the president & co-founder of Young Cumberland Valley Rising.
