We host both online and in-person tournaments throughout the year to give students a chance to apply what they’ve learned in a fun, competitive setting. Tournaments help build confidence, deepen strategic thinking, and create a sense of achievement, win or loss. All players are encouraged to participate, regardless of experience level.
We host online tournaments using Chess.com, a free and kid-friendly website where students can take lessons, play games, and track their progress. Students can join our Google Meet or Zoom meeting to communicate, play, and have fun with each other.
We hold in-person lessons and games at public spaces like libraries, community centers, and schools in the Champaign, Urbana, and Savoy area. Locations are chosen to be safe, central, and easy to access. Boards, pieces, and materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own!
