At C-U Chess, we offer in-person and online lessons for students in elementary, middle, and high school, whether they’re just learning how the pieces move or preparing for advanced competition. Our lessons are grouped by skill level, so each student learns at a pace that matches their needs. Whether you’re joining us in a local library or learning from home online, you’ll find a place to grow, connect, and have fun.
Perfect for students just starting out, these sessions focus on the basics: how the pieces move, board setup, check/checkmate, and opening principles. We keep it fun and supportive to make sure every student feels confident jumping into their first games.
These lessons introduce students to key tactics like forks, pins, and discovered attacks, while encouraging deeper thinking and more confident play. Players also begin analyzing games to improve their decision-making and strategy.
For experienced players, we explore advanced strategy, endgames, positional play, and deeper opening theory. Students sharpen their calculation and board-vision while preparing for tournament-level competition.
