Conference Information

Conference participants are expected to display the responsibility and maturity that make them leaders in their own chapters and districts. Please be kind and polite towards our judges, volunteers and vendors; without them none of this would be possible. We would like to ensure their future support with another successful conference.

Participants are reminded of the following:

1. The Hawaii State CTSO conference is a school activity; therefore, participants are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the DOE, including Chapter 19. The possession or use of alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are prohibited.
2. The use of private automobiles by students is prohibited. Keys are to be given to chapter advisors upon arrival, and will be returned prior to departure.
3. Attendance is expected at all sessions. Participants shall be on time for all activities. Allow enough time to get to the next session.
4. Always walk with at least one or two other participants and/or chaperones for safety reasons. Remain on the conference property at all times.
5. Nametags are to be worn at all times.
6. Participants are the guests of the Hawaii Convention Center and its staff. Their rules and regulations must be observed.
7. Be alert to your surroundings at all times.

General Session Protocol

The general sessions should be enthusiastic professional; do not be rude or obnoxious to those in the audience or on stage. It is important to remain seated until the end of the session.

CTSO DRESS CODE

OFFICIAL DRESS CODE ATTIRE is defined as:

DECA: Professional Interview Attire (Blazers optional)

FCCLA: Official Dress or Business Attire

HOSA: Official Uniform or Business Attire

SkillsUSA: Official Dress (Blazers, windbreakers, or sweaters)

Note: Skirts should be knee length

*Hosiery is not required

CTSO Official Dress Attire shall be worn to the following events:

• Individual General Session

• Competitive Events (Unless specific competition attire is designated by competition rules)

• Breakout Sessions

• Opening Session

• Awards Breakfast

CASUAL DRESS ATTIRE is defined as:

PERMITTED

• Aloha, polo, or collared shirts with dress slacks or khakis;
• Any conservative covered shoes or athletic shoes; and
• Blouse, dress, skirt or sandals without heel strap acceptable for females.

UNACCEPTABLE

• Shorts, Skorts, Cargo pants, Athletic pants (soccer, basketball, yoga, etc.), Tights, Capris, Pants with decorative rhinestones, appliques, holes, or excessively worn out bottoms and Jeans (blue, white, black, and colored denim).
• T-shirts, Tank tops, Flashy name-brand clothing, Athletic jersey tops, Backless tops, Spaghetti straps, Bare midriffs, and excessively tight or revealing clothing.
• Slippers/flip-flops, Individualized toe shoes, Crocs, and Skate shoes.
• Headgear (scarves, caps, hats) and Sunglasses.

Casual Dress Attire may be worn to the general session and dance/movie/games.
