My work in Strategy and Risk Mitigation is defined by the ability to move beyond immediate task completion and predict and prevent systemic instructional failure. This is built on a foundation of high-volume output: I lead by example, personally producing high-quality instructional content while managing the division's strategic initiatives.
My strategic leadership began with major tactical challenges, most notably serving as the Lead Canvas Trainer during the university's large-scale LMS migration. This role was a crucial risk mitigation exercise to ensure instructional continuity. I preemptively designed a comprehensive training ecosystem, including high-volume self-paced workshops and specialized support documentation, that guaranteed a seamless, low-risk transition for thousands of stakeholders.
Building on this hands-on experience, I conducted the ultimate strategic risk-forecasting exercise: executing an enterprise-level LMS accessibility audit. This was my most significant and high-stakes undertaking, producing a comprehensive, executive-level Americans with Disabilities (ADA) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance report that exposed institution-wide legal vulnerabilities. This decisive action successfully safeguarded the university from significant legal and financial risk by providing the data needed to mandate equitable design across the curriculum.
This proactive strategic planning extends to my team management. I support the long-term talent strategy of our division by serving on search committees for instructional designers and technologists, and I protect our operational continuity by creating and maintaining all essential new hire and instructional documentation. By combining high-volume production with strategic risk management, I ensure our division is resilient, efficient, and aligned with the future demands of accessible and effective instructional technology.
