I design and facilitate dynamic professional learning experiences for K-12 teachers and administrators to advance their practice. Below are some highlights of the customized workshops, training, and webinar sessions I have led to building educator capacity in key areas.
My professional learning offerings focus on identified needs and goals to move understanding and skills forward in purposeful ways. I utilize models of adult learning alongside best practices in instructional design to support participant engagement and transformative learning.
Whether through intensive workshops, sustained coaching relationships, or hour-long webinars introducing new edtech or instructional strategies, I craft professional development centered on the learner to catalyze growth. The offerings showcased below include interactive formats and differentiated activities tailored to each audience and context.
This workshop was developed for new faculty and has evolved based on requests from the academic administrators, chairs, and previous participants' suggestions. I have worked collaboratively with a teammate to refine this training. The workshop includes a 3-hour overview webinar to kick off each semester that includes:
Establishing a virtual presence
Culturally responsive teaching principles
Strategies to support the learning journey
Canvas introduction
New faculty complete the 8-hour workshop by choosing from a list of flexible options that can help support them during their first semester with us as a way to build rapport and familiarize them with our team's services. The options include:
Watching our recorded webinars and responding to the discussion response to earn micro-credentials
Live webinar professional learning sessions to earn micro-credentials
Consultations with our team to provide support as needed
Virtual office hours
Canvas refresher sessions
Virtual Presence & Community-Building Padlet
This Padlet is from our Supporting Effective Teaching workshop and contains materials related to our module on establishing a virtual presence and building community. This is a Padlet that I worked on collaboratively with my teammate. We wanted a way to display the materials for this workshop in visual ways to communicate ideas and concepts to participants quickly. Padlet is a great tool that we have used to organize resources in several of our workshops. It is an excellent collaboration tool, as well.
This was a workshop that I developed with a teammate who is a learning experience strategist based on the identified needs of instructors and requests from chairs and academic administrators. Participants chose a learning path connected to an aspect of the Backward Design Process as part of a two-semester workshop that culminated in a showcase during Staff Day activities in which they shared what they developed with support from our team:
Literacy Overview video (Participants could choose from 4 themes to help them transform an aspect of their course. Literacy was one of the themes.
Student-centered Assessments: A Google Slides presentation with navigation buttons on slide 2 that lead to sample ideas for student-centered assessments
This is a webinar that I developed collaboratively with a teammate. Artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly, and educators need strategies to uphold academic integrity while leveraging AI. In this interactive session, explore ethical ways for students to use AI and refine assessments to demonstrate authentic learning.
Key Topics Covered:
Identifying current academic integrity challenges and AI's impacts
Reflecting on assessment goals and practices
Setting clear expectations for appropriate vs inappropriate AI use
Strategizing AI's role across the writing process
Developing assignments that require critical thinking despite AI aid
Accessing tools and resources for addressing AI issues
Through examples, group discussions, and contributors’ expertise, participants left our session with actionable next steps to evolve their curriculum and assessments to align with the emerging realities of generative AI in education. Set clear boundaries while taking advantage of AI’s conveniences to enhance learning. See slides 1-6 of the session below:
In this 1-hour interactive webinar, the instructors explored intentional instructional strategies to address learners' needs. In this virtual session, we:
Defined intentional instruction
Examined key qualities that effective intentional instructors demonstrate
Explored ways to be more intentional in our instructional practices to motivate learners
Identify specific, intentional practices to implement, including learning intentions and success criteria.
I carefully researched strategies and ways to help shift mindsets to impact students through thoughtful, responsive instructional choices positively.
I will sometimes offer quick podcast-style blog posts that contain additional information and resources for faculty related to high-interest topics I have chatted about with faculty. Here is an example:
