The purpose of this project is to ethically explore different types of digital media while appropriately giving credit to the creator.
"Abstract Backgrounds" by NichoDesign is licensed via CC BY-NC-SA 2.0
Above is an example of graphic media. I found this graphic by searching "Outdoors" on Creative Commons. I saved the graphic as a .jpeg and uploaded it to this page.
This graphic is shared under the CC BY-NC-SA 2.0 license, meaning you are free to share and adapt this image under the following terms:
Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
Noncommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes.
ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
Below is an example of animated media (.gif) I found on Giphy. This is a creator who also has other social media pages, with a fantasy creature. On the web page, I was able to copy an embedded code and paste the code onto this page. Although, I was not able to find any information of licensing on Giphy or Albi's webpage.
"Flowers Stay Hydrated" by AlbiYourFriend unknown license
Below, I have embedded video media from YouTube. It states this video is free to use but you cannot sell the video. It also states to give credit by listing the channel name- Free HD Videos.
This channel provides a large range of no copyright, free to use videos.
"Rain Dropping on Metal Surface" by BonnyOrbit is licensed under CC0 1.0
Above, I have inserted an embedded audio media from the site Free Sound. This audio has been shared under the CC0 1.0 license. I like to use these kinds of audios to help me sleep at night, so it's even better that it's free!
The CC0 1.0 license states:
"The person who associated a work with this deed has dedicated the work to the public domain by waiving all of his or her rights to the work worldwide under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights, to the extent allowed by law.
You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission. See Other Information below.
This project has showed me the importance of providing credit to creators. I did not realize how hard it can be to find this information at times. I also learned how to use embedded codes when it is easier then trying to download large files. I will be using this feature again. Lastly, I was able to find some cool digital media tools, like FreeSound and Giphy.
