For the Global Group project, me and my partner decided to compare Panama and the Bahamas. These are two places that we both love, think are beautiful, and want to travel to soon. Our job was to research information on the individual places including language, demographics, climate, and technology. We were tasked with displaying this information in a satisfying way using what we know about content hierarchy. I was most interested to learn about the digital divide and how it deeply effects both Panama and the Bahamas in different ways. The digital divide is deep in Panama because there is a lot of infrastructure near the canal, where most of the business and trade takes place. However, in the more rural areas, people have very limited resources or internet connection. This was very interesting and crazy for me to learn.
Through completing this assignment, I learned a lot about how to collaborate with a partner and utilize content hierarchy. Working together on a PowerPoint was tricky, but it taught me a lot about delegating work and compromising on styles. Me and Kayla both learned more about the features available to us on PowerPoint, such as building graphs and pie charts and adding icons. I also learned a lot about our individual places. I didn't know that the Bahamas are a group of islands, or that Panama experiences flooding for most of the year. I really enjoyed collaborating on this project because I feel like we both learned more about the program by learning from each other.
