In this project, I was tasked with researching two media articles related in some way to cyber security. I had to summarize both articles and evaluate the way the source was provided. I also took a CSIT Cybersecurity Training in which I screenshotted my certificate as shown in the image at the bottom.
This article is about a woman who was charged $5,000 for identity theft. Elaysha Keels, a 30 year old woman in Greensboro was charged with identity theft, forgery of an instrument, uttering forged instrument and obtaining property by false pretense. On April 24th of this year, Keels was arrested. This article is about a ransomware attack in that took place in Kansas. An IT system had to be completely shutdown after a ransmomware attack early this Sunday morning. This takedown did not require emergency services but the bribe amount and the identity of the attacker have not yet been identified. The main ways to protect yourself from ransomware attacks are to always backup your data, update all systems immediately, and install antivirus protection.
