Finger Dexterity Ball Activity
Finger Dexterity Ball Activity (challenge)
Gross Motor Game: Crossing Mid-line
Supplies:
Socks, laundry basket, trash pin, hamper, pot or anything that can be a basket
Grab 8-10 socks
You or your child can ball up the socks making little sock balls (How to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn2KHImdeVI )
Have your child sit or be in a high kneel (high kneel is more challenging)
Place the socks on your child’s non-dominant side
Place the basket or object that is acting as a basket in front of your child
Have your child reach across their body to pick up a sock with their dominant hand
Place a sock in the basket. Once your child is successful move the basket back 1-2 feet. If they struggle keep the basket close. Feel free to start the basket further away if needed to be challenging.
For younger students sit in front of your child and using a small basket move the basket up, left, right, low, high to have the student track and try and place the socks in.
Step 2:
Once completed have your child use the basket or smaller item to try and catch the socks as you throw them.
Supplies: tape, towel
Using masking tape or painters tape
Lay out a track in the living room or through the house.
Have your child sit on a towel at the starting point
Have your child use their feet to pull themselves around the track on the towel
Other options include have your child walk the course keeping their feet on the line, use heel toe walking to walk the course, jump the course keeping feet together and staying on the line.
If you have access to a skate board and are brave you can have your child lay on the board and scoot themselves through the course.
Writing: Your therapist will email you worksheets to address writing skills.
