For this animation I created a simple roller coaster. The coaster is situated amongst some vast rolling hills on a cloudy day. The coaster first goes up a steep hill, makes 2 turns before it hangs on the edge of the drop. Then it quickly falls down the hill into a half inverted loop. It then S banks into a helix turn followed by another helix turn and returns to the station. It was honestly very difficult to get all the elements of this project working correctly but it looks pretty great when it is all said and done. I used Premier to edit the animation together to give it some special effects. Background image comes from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cumulus_clouds_panorama.jpg
My roller coaster contains natural arcs through its track layout. It's most noticeable arc is the main inverted loop, which is present after the main drop of the roller coaster. It has a soft curve as it travels through the loop giving the riders an interesting twist as they reach the top. Also as a secondary action, wherever the first train of the roller coaster goes the other 2 train cars follow in a natural movement pattern.
The first shot of my animation stages the entire ride as it allows viewers to see what waits in store for them as they ride the roller coaster.
My roller coaster slows down as it reaches the top of the lift hill and drastically slows down right before the passengers are dropped down the first hill. This is an example of anticipation. The whole ride is an example of timing as each section of the track is timed to have a specific speed in order to seem realistic.
