Welcome to the Government of Canada. We’re so happy you’re joining us for a career in the public service. This is a training module to orient you in your new position. At the end of the module, please complete the quiz to move on in your training.
As a public servant, you have a duty to serve the public. Your work will have lasting impacts on Canadians across the country and you should feel proud to be a part of these efforts. As a Government of Canada employee, you are a crucial piece of the puzzle in creating a stronger, safer, and better Canada for us all.
Here in The Government of Canada, we pride ourselves on our dedication to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Following the Canadian Human Rights Act, passed in 1977, it is illegal to be discriminated against for your race, gender, sexuality, or age. Our approach has been consistent over the last few decades, following in the footsteps of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
[Pierre Trudeau Audio Clip: "The view we take here is that there's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation and I think that, you know, what's done in private between adults doesn't concern the criminal code."]
You should never be discriminated against for these things, or discriminate against others in the workplace.
This is the end of Module 1. Please complete the quiz to continue your training.
