THE PROJECT

This project was made for HIST 5705: Museums, National Identity, and Public Memory at Carleton University.

Tasked with examining a national narrative, the immersive narrative model of our product speaks to the prevailing narrative of Canada’s national security policy and contradictions in Canadian civic nationalism.

We suggest that by walking the user through “the dream” of government work and “the reality” of Canada’s history of anti-2SLGBTQIA+ practices in the public service, we expose the contradictions in Canadian nationalist ideology: the narrative that Canada is a safe haven for marginalized groups due to the government prioritizing liberal values of freedom and equality.
