Purge Survivors

Renee Parent: "We were interrogated like prisoners of war, you know? We were thrown in the back of a car, driven to [an] undisclosed area and interrogated for hours and hours..."

Barry Deeprose: "The RCMP would walk into a workplace and say 'you, you, you, you follow me,' and then say, 'if you don't resign, we're outing you and then firing you.' So we don't know how many people, then, it would have appeared in the records as resignation as opposed to dismissal. So that would give you another whole cohort of people who were forced out of their job, blackmailed out of their job, by the police."

Paul Fournier: "They were under the impression that gay males would be blackmailed by the Russians and I told the RCMP that I wasn't going to give up names and they said 'Well you're a traitor to our country.' Well I said 'I'd rather be a traitor to our country than a traitor to my friends.' I never divulged a single name and when I finished I said 'Fuck you very much.'"
