Hello and thank you for taking a look at my portfolio!
My name is Cristopher Estes and I am an adult services librarian with the Wake County Public Libraries. I am currently at the Northeast Regional Library branch located in Raleigh.
I received my MLS from East Carolina University in 2014 while I was working as a library assistant at the Wayne County Public Library located in Goldsboro, NC. Shortly after receiving my degree I was promoted to Reference Librarian and moved to the Steele Memorial Branch located in Mt. Olive, NC.
At the beginning of 2017 I relocated and began working at the Oberlin Regional Library in Wake County and soon after became the Arts and Literature Librarian at Northeast Regional Library, also a branch of the Wake County libraries.
Providing quality programming, and access to technology and reading materials are goals that I value highly and strive to obtain every day in my job as a public librarian.
I think I'm the typical librarian in that I want to know and do everything! I have so many interests and hobbies and sometimes I feel like I won't have enough time to do and see it all, even though I am determined to see and do as much as possible!
Here are a few of my favorite things:
Any and all things Disney! I also love traveling and would love to visit all 50 states and at least 1 country on every continent (I would love to see them all though).
I love camping and hiking. I definitely don't want to run to the top of a mountain, but I rather enjoy casually strolling and enjoying the scenery on the way.
I participated in an axe league and a softball league for a couple of years! I joined an axe league because after living in Durham for 4 years, I still didn't know all the fun cool places to hang out, and I needed more friends! I've met a lot of wonderful people and enjoy it. I joined softball because I love playing but hadn't played since I was a kid. The league I was in plays for charity and since I volunteered for the Animal Protection Society, I thought it would be fun to play for them as well!
As you can probably tell, I love animals very much, especially my two cats, Bailey and Fredo! Bailey is 18 and Fredo is 10.
I'm looking forward to more adventures to come in life and always welcome new and exciting opportunities!
