In search for circularity

House of Dutch Provinces in Brussels

We took part in the "In search for circularity" event, which took place 30 March 2023 at the House of Dutch Provinces in Brussels. The event focused on collaborations between local authorities and researchers in the circular economy. The event explored the actions that can be undertaken by local authorities to contribute to a circular economy, and the role of EU policymaking in turning this possibility into a reality. This was done through a series of talks and roundtable discussions featuring EU officials and those involved in the Color Circle project.

The event covered topics such as cooperation between research and regions, support for SMEs, matching university skills with regional needs, and peer learning. Notable presenters included elected officials, academics, and EU officials, discussing the importance of circular economy and sustainable products and consumption.

We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to participate in this event and to have learned more about the circular economy and its potential impact on our society. We look forward to continuing to work towards a more sustainable future and exploring opportunities for collaboration in this field.

Off the Target: The Stagnating Political Economy of Europe and Post-Pandemic Recovery

This book describes the history of European integration and the Eurozone, before presenting ways in which the European Union can move forward. Charting integration from before the Second World War, the foundations of the Eurozone are examined to provide insight into the challenges faced by the European Union, including the Global Financial Crisis, over recent decades. The impact of TARGET2 and the European Monetary System are also discussed.

This book aims to highlight ways that current challenges to European integration, such as the COVID-19 crisis, environmental degradation, and fiscal debt, can be overcome to promote economic growth and social advancement. It will be relevant to students, researchers, and policymakers interested in the political economy and European economic policy.

The 2021 UN climate change conference (COP26) is scheduled to take place from 31 October to 12 November 2021 in Glasgow, under the presidency of the UK. The CRECC participate to this event the 9 November 2021 at 12:00-13:00 Paris time.

This book describes how the rapid advancement in encryption and network computing gave birth to new tools and products that have influenced the local and global economy alike. One recent and notable example is the emergence of virtual currencies (such as Bitcoin) also known as cryptocurrencies. Virtual currencies introduced a fundamental transformation that affected the way goods, services and assets are exchanged. As a result of its distributed ledgers based on blockchain, cryptocurrencies not only offer some unique advantages to the economy, investors, and consumers, but also pose considerable risks to users and challenges for regulators when fitting the new technology into the old legal framework.
