Working Thesis
This Canva presentation includes a lecture on how to write a "working"--or an in-progress--thesis statement. As it illustrates the importance of "working" thesis statements, it also emphasizes writings as a series of processes and necessary failures. The presentation also includes a thesis workshop activity that features my own working thesis statements. For other instructors who wish to use this lesson, I suggest you include examples of your own writing to be workshopped through this activity; letting students critique your work can help break down intimidating power dynamics in the classroom, and it can also help to eliminate damaging perfectionist mindsets.
