My final project for Unit 2 was inspired by both El Anatsui and Joseph Cornell. The idea was to show what you can make by using recyclable materials mixed with found materials. It shows a human being trapped in a frame, showing them feeling stifled by life's situations.
A Dream Differed
Black Tree of Freedom
This was my final project for Unit 1. This art piece was a homage to the artist Jacob Lawrence. This painting highlights the black experience in 1917-2000. I was inspired the story behind Jacobs work and i wanted to portray the same through my work but to show them gaining freedom. The tree symbolises the lynching that black people had to endure but they now stand at the bottom of the tree released from their trauma.
Blooming Wonderland
Cost of Time
This artwork highlights that society treats time like currency and no longer value it more than being productive with working. Work has been become main priority to that point we forget how live and present in time with family, friends and for some people, what we enjoy doing.
In Her Eyes
Veggie Gardens
I made a garden/ forest on Canva and photoshop. The broccoli signifies trees, spinach signifies grass, Avocados signifies rocks and the lemon signifies the sun.
This piece is about people being a puzzle and life being a puzzle. Everyone is trying to figure out life and situations, no one has a full blueprint on life.
I created a homage to an artists but added my own spin on the piece by adding clocks to the background to emphasise time in the work
