HORROR VS BEAUTY
Here I began physically constructing a duality-themed masquerade mask. I painted one side neutral skin tones, mixing shades of pink and white and hints of brown. Then eventually adding subtle details such as eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair, nose and lips.
Here I experimented with clay, playing around with the idea of beauty and femininity, learning how to manipulate clay. I stuck on eyelash's at the end which I think helps emphasise the beauty aspect. I think the outcome is very animated and cartoon-like, if I experiment again, I may try and paint more realistic features to contrast the themes beauty and horror.
I used air-dry clay and sculpted a masquerade-like shape face mask and let it dry, carving out almond shaped eyes and contouring a small button nose.
FREE HAND DRAWING
I sketched a design with the theme of opposites, exploring horror and beauty, jekyll & hyde, ying & yang.
To visually represent the idea, I chose 'Pinhead from the scary movie 'Hellraiser' and a traditionally beautiful woman.
Horror and beauty contrast yet connect, showing how something beautiful can also feel dark or unsettling. Together, they reveal that attraction and fear can exist side by side, creating a powerful and memorable effect.
I acquired a hair extension piece from a friend, to enhance the feminine/beauty side.
The human hair extension enhances the realism aspects, which reinforces the theme of duality, and provides texture.
I used real metal nails to bring to life the Hell-raiser monster-like side.
COLLAGE POP ART
I created my piece using newspaper collage, acrylic paint and black outline to build up the portrait. The newspaper represents how women are often shaped by media, public opinion, and social expectations.
Papier-MACHE Maskarade
Once the design was finalised, the mask was painted to simulate and aged porcelain, marble-like surface. Rich deep emerald greens and crimson reds were layered to create depth and a luxurious, dramatic colour palette.
Collage Using Adobe and digital tools
I selected two other inspirational classic pieces of Art. I was able to produce, this captivating piece of art on Adobe Photoshop
I layered the scenic Bob Ross background, behind the da Vinci's, Magritte's and Wood's iconic portaits in the foreground.
USING WATER COLOURS
I chose to integrate these four familiar pieces layered on top of a stunning atmospheric Bob Ross- style landscape to create something that moves the observer and tantalises the eye, with multiple familiar focal points in the foreground.
I developed my ideas further by creating a 3D silhouette of the Bradford skyline.
was looking into Pablo Picasso, and his Cubism really stood out to me. I wanted to try something similar, so I made my own Cubist-inspired piece using cardboard.
I first sketched a composition of musical items,I then painted the idea in watercolours . I thenphysically found the objects that I sketched and painted.
I physically brought them together to create a profound piece of Art.
GRID DRAWING METHOD
A lot of artists use it to get their proportions right. Using the grid trick let me split up all the crazy shapes in his work into smaller bits.
HOMAGE TO RENE MAGRITTE THE FALSE MIRROR
I sketched and painted a Magritte style oil-like painting, exhibiting my take on Rene Magritte's The False Mirror. I studied a picture of the original and tried to get that surreal look, by experimenting with the colours myself.
LIGHT AND CLOSE-UP PHOTOGRAPHY
using my digital camara I took close-up pictures with different lighting and looked at how light reflects off various items. Also how it makes shadows and reflections that totally change close-up in light.
