The Bab al Bahrain square in Bahrain is currently undergoing a transformation process. Improving the microclimate conditions a temporary shading structure was implemented. It has silver reflective thermal screening which is a low-tech technology fabric used for green houses. Additionally, fountains contribute with their evaporation process to the microclimate comfort. This is an example for impermanent shading structures. Due to the seasonality in the Nordics, permanent ones would decrease the microclimate comfort in fall, autumn and spring.
