What should I do?
Level One
Explore the StoryBird website. You should start in the You section on the Class page. Soon, you will choose from one of the three StoryBird Challenges to get started with your first creation. Click on the Your Stuff, Subscriptions, Bookshelf, and Hearted tabs along the top and get familiar with each section.
Next, click Read along the top menu bar. Find at least one story that looks interesting to you and read it. You can filter the books by category, format, and age level. Read another story or two before you decide to get started on your own work, if you'd like. Proceed to Level Two when you're ready.
Level Two
It's time to create! Click on You along the top menu bar and then Class to return to the Class page.
Select one of the three StoryBird challenges with which to get started. You can click on each of them first for more information before making your final decision. Here's some info on each:
Your First Poem: Find some awesome art on StoryBird. Mix and Match words in the Poetry Maker. Drag the words onto the art to create a masterpiece.
Create a Quick Picture Book: Search through the StoryBird art library for your favorite animal. Write a story based on that animal/artwork in the Picture Book Storymaker.
Fiction in a Flash: Choose an image that speaks to you. Write a story in 100 words (or fewer) that is inspired by the art using the Longform Storymaker.
Once you've chosen one of the challenges, press the Start Writing button on the challenge page to get started. For Your First Poem, this will take you to the Poetry Maker. For the others, you will be taken to the main StoryBird creation page. Follow the directions from your challenge to begin writing. Ask your instructor for help if needed. We can't wait to see what you will create!
