What Should I Do?
On the Student Dashboard page, look under Current Classes for Introduction to Computer Science and then press the Start button to get started.
You'll see a map of the dungeon and the path ahead to freedom. You will use Python code to give your hero the proper instructions to help them solve the puzzles in each level and eventually earn your freedom from this wretched place. You have to start somewhere, so click on Level 1: Dungeons of Kithgard to begin the long fight.
Dungeons of Kithgard: Grab the gem and escape the dungeon—but don’t run into anything else. In this level, you’ll learn basic movements for your hero.
When you start typing, you will be able to select from a list of commands to auto-complete your code. Do not do this, at least not to get started. Coding means typing and you might as well get some extra practice. This will also allow you to better get the experience of making mistakes and having to find and fix them.
Continue progressing from level to level, using the instructions you are given and your best problem solving skills to solve each puzzle. Be sure to READ EVERYTHING!
Sometimes, CodeCombat decides you need extra practice with a particular skill or bit of code. In those cases, you will move along a side path with some additional puzzles to get the practice you need before moving back to the main path.
There are a total of 18 levels on the main pathway. Once you escape the dungeon, you will be able to spend time in the online multiplayer Battle Arena. You must first defeat the CPU and will then be able to face off against other kids in your own class and across all of TechBrainiacs' after-school classes.
This is just the start of what you can learn and do in Code Combat. If you wish to continue further, let your instructor know so they can apply a premium license for you to proceed on to another course.
