As a principled practitioner, I am a strong advocate of individualized learning. Educators teach individual minds with varying backgrounds and experiences, which is something I believe needs to be taken seriously. I seek to accommodate students for what they want to focus on and make a curriculum that is more focused on the student's needs and wants instead of what the teacher. In this case study, I learn about students ages 8-10 years old. Through taking time to explore their background, home life, academic struggles, and musical interests, educators can make lesson plans that are centered around them that support her further growth. This personalized approach gives young learners a sense of agency and curiosity to make meaning from the content presented.
