Priveledged Exec Mode- Enable Mode Password-
Enable Secret- Takes precedent over enable password- Stored encrypted by MD5-MD5 is easily broken with a simple program
Enable Password- Password is stored un encrypted plain text in the configuration
Configuring Console port-
Line con 0- This specifies the console connection to the switch
exec-timeoute 0 0 - specifies the timeout signout period to timeout minutes seconds.
login then password x PASSWORD- you can set an encryption level between MD0-7.
Creating local database- Includes username and password
username xxxxx password xxxxxx - Password can be encrypted with MD0-7.
login local - Specifies to use the username and passwords set above.
Service Password-encrypted- This will encrypt all your passwords in the config. Good to enable to add a bit of security.
