These garments all started with Liz Haywood's free scrubs pattern.
This pattern is a great way to use remnants of fabric. The outfit on the left was an experiment in pattern matching using fabric from the stash of a dear friend. The top on the right uses athletic fabrics sourced from Remainders Pasadena, an amazing creative reuse space.
These pants are made out of a wool blend. Instead of elastic, the top edge is finished then gathered and stitched to a band made from the selvage. The band extends into ties to fasten the pants at the side. The inseam pocket on that side is open at the top. The sides are trimmed with selvage.
To increase wearability, I modified the scrub top by adding a removable long sleeve. The short sleeve has buttons along the sleeve edge. The long sleeve has buttonholes around the top.
This top was another experiment in options. I added a gathered sleeve with removable drawstring ties. The embroidery pattern is free on the Siren website.
